Privacy policy
This policy explains what information the Storyline & Sinker website (www.storylineandsinker.com) collects when you visit it, how we use that information, and the choices you have. “We” and “us” mean Storyline & Sinker LLC, based in Huntsville, Alabama.
In short
- We use Google Analytics to understand how people use the site. We don’t send your name, email address or phone number to Google Analytics.
- When you book a call, you do it on Calendly, which collects the details you enter there.
- We don’t sell your personal information.
Google Analytics
We use Google Analytics 4, a service provided by Google, to measure how visitors use the site. It records information such as the pages you view, how you arrived (for example from a search engine or a link), the type of device and browser you use, your approximate location (city, region and country, which Google works out from your IP address), and the actions you take on our pages: the choices you make in our marketing diagnostic, the package buttons you select, clicks on our booking links, and, on the call-preparation page described below, the partnership style you choose, the resources you open there and whether you copied or sent a note (never what the note says).
Google Analytics uses first-party cookies (named _ga and _ga_ followed by an ID) to recognise a returning browser. We have turned off Google signals for our Google Analytics property, our site tells Google Analytics not to use its data for ad personalisation, and we use the data only to understand and improve this website. Google Analytics keeps event-level data for 14 months.
You can learn how Google uses this information at How Google uses information from sites or apps that use our services. To stop Google Analytics from measuring your visits on any website, you can install the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on. If your browser sends a Global Privacy Control signal, our site does not load Google Analytics at all. (This applies to our website; Calendly’s page is covered below.)
Visit details kept in your browser
To see which pages lead to booked calls, the site remembers two things for the length of your visit: the first page you opened and where your visit came from (for example “google-organic” or “direct”). These are kept in your browser’s storage, not in a cookie: in the tab’s session storage, and in a copy in local storage so that pages you open in a new tab carry on the same visit. Both are ignored 30 minutes after your last page view and replaced when a new visit starts. They leave your browser only when you click one of our booking links: they are added to that link, and, when Google Analytics is running, they are included in the record of that click sent to Google Analytics.
Booking a call (Calendly)
Our “Book a content call” buttons open our scheduling page on Calendly in a new tab. The link includes short tags that describe the page and button you used and the visit details above. They contain no personal information. Anything you enter on Calendly, such as your name, email address and answers to its questions, is collected by Calendly and shared with us so we can prepare for and hold the call. Calendly also tells our Google Analytics when a call is booked, together with the link tags above; it does not send your name or contact details. Calendly’s page shows its own cookie choices, and its own privacy notice applies there. Global Privacy Control turns off only the Google Analytics on our website, not Calendly’s measurement on its page.
After you book: the preparation page
After booking, Calendly may send you to a page on our website that helps you prepare for the call. If we have turned on Calendly’s option to pass booking details, Calendly adds them to that page’s web address: the appointment time, the event name and host, your name and email address, Calendly’s reference for your booking, and, if you gave them, your answers to the booking questions, a phone number for text reminders and your guests’ email addresses. The page uses the time, event and host to show your appointment, keeps your name, email address and booking reference only while the page is open, and removes everything from the address before our Google Analytics loads, so none of it is sent to Google Analytics. Like every request to our website, the full address is recorded in our web host’s server logs.
The page has an optional notes form. If you choose “Send my note to Trevor”, your note, the website or profile you entered, the partnership style you chose, your appointment details, and your name, email address and booking reference from Calendly are emailed to our business inbox (sent by our web host’s mail server and delivered by our email provider, Google Workspace) so we can prepare for the call. Nothing is sent unless you press that button. If the page offers “Copy my call notes” instead, your notes stay in your browser and are never sent.
Hosting and embedded services
- Hosting. The site is hosted by GoDaddy. Like most web servers, its servers keep standard logs of requests, such as IP address, browser type, the page requested and the time, for security and operation. GoDaddy also adds its own script to our pages. It sets cookies (
_tccl_visitor, kept for up to a year;_tccl_visitand_scc_session, kept for 30 minutes or less) and sends page-view, click and performance information to GoDaddy. Global Privacy Control does not turn it off. - Fonts. Our typefaces load from Google Fonts, so your browser requests the font files from Google’s servers, which receive your IP address.
- Videos. Some videos on our Our Work page come from Vimeo. When you open that page, your browser loads video titles and thumbnails from Vimeo, which receives your IP address. When a video plays, we ask Vimeo’s player not to track you. Vimeo’s privacy policy applies.
How we use information
We use the information described here to understand which pages and services are useful, to improve the site, to see which pages lead to booked calls, and to prepare for and hold the calls you book. We share it only with the service providers named above, as needed for them to run their services. We don’t sell personal information and we don’t use it for advertising.

- Block or delete cookies in your browser settings, or use the Google Analytics opt-out add-on linked above.
